Description:

About the Royal Hudson steam locomotive (CPR 2850) 2850 is a class H1d "Hudson" and typical of CPR’s passenger motive power of the period; it was designed by Henry B. Bowen and built by Montreal Locomotive Works (MLW) in 1938. After the 30-day voyage from Quebec to Vancouver, during which the locomotive performed superbly, the monarch allowed CPR to use the title "Royal" when referring to locomotives of this class.

In 1961, the Canadian Government declared CPR Royal Hudson 2850 to be a National Historic Site.
